What to Expect

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

When it comes to crafting a piece of art that reflects who you are as a family, you want someone who will take his time and commit himself to doing it well. At Mark Rich Photography, I believe that the finer things in life take time and intention to develop. Careful attention to detail and craftsmanship is paramount.

Guaranteed Custom Family Photography - Boise Family Portraits

My consultations and sessions are exclusively by appointment only. This gives you assurance that you have my undivided attention throughout our time together. We will start your portrait creation process with a pre-session conversation about a week before your session. During this time we discuss several important aspects of your portrait. This includes topics such as what style of portrait you prefer, where you plan to display it, the surrounding decor, who will be included, personality types, clothing, and much more. I take this time to help you design your ideal portrait. I prefer to have this conversation face-to-face with you in your home. This also enables me to meet your children prior to the portrait session. This is helpful because it gives us an opportunity to become acquainted with one another before the session – without a camera in my hand and with no pressure or expectations. The importance of this cannot be overemphasized.

On the day of your portrait session we’ll meet at the agreed upon location. This could be your home or another location that’s significant to you and your family. I want you and your family to be as relaxed as possible during our time together. To this end I intentionally keep my number of bookings low. This benefits your family because, if you are running late or something pushes our time longer than expected, there is no worry about being shuffled along to make time for the next client. While I strive to work as quickly & professionally as possible, I want you to be able to enjoy yourself during your portrait session. With that in mind, our sessions usually last 45 minutes to 2 hours. The session length is highly dependent on the cooperation of everyone involved, especially young children. (If I’m able to get to know them prior to our session I’ve found their cooperation level is much better.)

After your family portrait session is finished, I carefully select the best images, professionally retouch and finish them in preparation for your image presentation. As part of my signature concierge service, I will visit you in your home and display your images to you. Most of the time I can do this directly on the wall where your portrait will be displayed. This is wonderful because you don’t need to imagine what it will look like. You’ll view your pictures in their actual print size in the very spot where they’ll be displayed. The image presentation tends to be an emotional experience and many of my clients tear up when they see their images for the first time. This will also be when you place your portrait order. The image presentation usually takes place 1-2 weeks after your family portrait session.

Once we receive your portraits back from our print team, I will visit you one more time to personally deliver your order. It usually takes 2-3 weeks for us to receive and deliver your order.

As you can see, this isn’t a conveyor belt type of approach for me and my team at Mark Rich Photography. We take creating your family’s portrait very seriously. We take the time required to get to know your family and your desires so we can deliver the best portrait experience you’ve ever had.

Maybe you’re ready to commission us to create your next family portrait. Maybe you’re still unsure whether or not Mark Rich Photography is the studio for you. In either case, give us a call at 918-6285 and schedule a time to get together and chat about it. There is no charge and absolutely no obligation for this. This chat will give us an opportunity to help you discover what is really important to you about your next family portrait, even if you decide not to commission us. You might be surprised by what you find out!
